Here's a photo of Mike Seidel when he was at WFBC (now WYFF) in Greenville, SC from 1983-89.

I met Mike Seidel during a visit to State College PA in 1996 when exploring meteorology as a possible college path, he was very polite and down to Earth.

I hear he was just as much of an @sshole back then as he is now. He stopped in at a radio station on MD's eastern shore last fall to visit an old colleague. A friend of mine worked there and said that he basically went on and on about himself and was very conceited.

A friend of mine tried to meet him during the Blizzard of '96 and he had the police escort them out of the area.

I had no idea Mike was like that. I don't quite understand why he'd be like that. Its not like he's some movie star or something. He's just an OCM on TWC. I don't mean to sound degrading or anything, but being an OCM (in my opinion) is a far cry from being a movie star.

Actually, several of them are (apparently) like that. Kristina Abernathy and Rich Johnson are two that come to mind. <_<

Anyone ever met Jim Cantore? I wonder if he's like that too?

I talked with someone once by the name of Dan Bednar who met some of the mets at TWC. He said Cantore was kind of a quiet guy (ironic, eh?). He said there was rumor that Jeanetta would go to the lobby to smoke a cigarette. He didn't know if that was true or not, however.

Matt, I don't know if you remember Dan or even met him (it was a while back).

Why Kristina? She just gives me the impression of a quiet librarian type woman. I rememeber TWC used to do online chat sessions with the mets, and Kristina seemed very nice.

Jim Cantore is cool. But I don't like to see him in person. To understand why you would have to live along the gulf coast or east coast. And if you still don't understand why, here is why, He only shows up what the eve of a hurricane is coming to hit your area. I had that encounter with Hurricane Rita. Although I never talked to Jim or met him officially, he was in my area when Rita made her final turn and headed for southwest Louisiana.

I can see Jim being a quite guy in person. Same with Dave Schwartz. I'd be amazed if anyone who'd met either guy thought that they were rude. Jeanetta possibly being a smoker doesn't surprise me either. Judging from the "bloopers" I've heard of her, she seems overwhelmed a lot (not that I blame her w/the hours some of the have to work).

Danny - I do remember Dan Bednar. He's an "I'll only talk to you when I need something" kind of guy. He also (more or less) copied the layout and graphics of my site in 2002 and made his own site (which included an article about the music). Not that my site was copyrighted or anything...still, it would've been nice if he asked first. Anywho...a friend of mine met Kristina when she came to his meteorology school.

I've always wondered about Mark Mancuso...he seems like the quiet laid-back type to me. At least he seems that way on camera.

Vivian is arrogant. She wouldn't let no one get near her when she came to her alma mater's (and mine's - Jackson State) homecoming parade a few years back.

That's suprising to hear about Vivian. She's one of the people I would see when I was watching the TWC back in the 1990's.Vivian just seemed like a serious person.I think Mike is OK.

On the flip side of things, my friend Robb told me that Kristen Dodd was super nice and very accomodating when he met her at Myrtle Beach in 1999.

Kristen Dodd does seem to be very nice.

I always thought Dennis Smith was probably pretty firendly too. Same for Bruce Edwards. He seemed like a freindly, humorous kind of person.

Jeff Morrow Dr. Lyons and a lot of the ladies seem like really nice OCM's to me...Jim Cantore never really came off as a nice guy to me, but what do I know, I've never met him! I also though that Seidel seemed like a nice guy...It's disappointing to hear the contrary.

I saw Mike Seidel in Jacksonville Beach this morning. I respectfully stayed about 100 feet behind the cameraman and snapped a couple pictures while he was reporting. As he made his way back to the truck, I told him I was a meteorology major and that I had some friends from school that would be jealous.
He completely blew me off :-/
Disappointing. It kind of confirms what I read on here a couple years ago.
Maybe he just gets stressed out from standing in the rain and wind all day...I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Mike used to post on the old TWC message boards, and he always seemed like a pretty cool guy there.

Sorry to hear that he's completely different in person.

My mom went to school with him as well as dated Mike Seidel..She said he is completely obsessed with himself and he's an @sshole..
As far as the rest of them goes, pretty much all the females with the exception of Vivian Brown and Kim Perez seem to me like they'd be pretty nice and down to earth. The guys seem pretty nice too, although Carl Parker seems like he would be arrogant...

He may have had a bad experience with a bystander in the past and chooses to just not deal with anybody anymore. Some TV news reporters are like that.
