Hi STAR Team,

I would like to file a complaint about the IntelliStar product playlists which were modified back in May, particularly for those STARs with the traffic products. Ever since these changes, I have been unsatisifed with the almanac and getaway forecasts showing far more than the more important weather-related screens, such as the front current conditions page, daypart forecast, and metro/regional forecast. I've talked to people whom I know in person and they would agree with me as well. Please consider having the daypart and forecast map products display more often than the rest. Thanks.

-Mike

I couldn't possibly agree more with re-adding the front page Current Conditions screen back to all LFs, on all IntelliStars. Many of the icons in the current set are undistinguishable from each other, (i.e. Thunderstorm, Light Rain with Thunder, Heavy Thunderstorm, etc). Please do at least add the front page CC to all flavors.

Also, you may also consider just showing one loop of the regional radar when there is no precipitation in the area. I don't see the need of showing 15 seconds of radar data (with the two loops of the reg radar and rad/sat) when there is no precip, just like how it was during the early days of the intellistar. This change would make way for other products to show on the local on the 8s, which is especially important for traffic viewers.

I think if there's no precip, the regional radar should only loop ones instead of twice. That would make room for at least one more product to show.

IMO, the radar product does not even need to display at all if no precip is detected in the area. The sat/rad product does a fine job showing that there is no precipitation in the vicinity, and it makes the LF flow much more smoothly.

It was like that on the one minute flavors for a short time, then they added the regional radar back in August for some reason. I liked the way it was before.

One other thing, is to have the regional forecast be at a higher priority level on the :18/:48 forecasts than the regional conditions.

I agree with everything you say.

CC is the most important screen, and it should air EVERY time.

CC is a very important screen. This reminds of the constructing going on in town. Some new sidewalks were poured, dirt and straw was put back into place and grass is growing. Now, tearing up the new soil to put in drainage pipes. Logic would tell you to put in the drainage pipes before putting in new soil than to go back and dig it up again. :idk:

Yeah, your analogy is making sense. As many who have known me for a while would expect me to say at some point, I absolutely abhor the new icons. Quite simply put, they're awful. One thing that in my opinion justifies my views is that many of them look alike. While the average viewer can look at the icon and get some sense of what it means, there is too much similarity between many of the icons (thunderstorm/heavy thunderstorm, light snow/flurries, etc), and the viewer needs to have the front page presented to them for that reason. Point being, the LDL IS NOT enough for the viewer.

I agree with you, Mike! I think that the Traffic Report and Traffic Flow don't need to display, because the Traffic Overview does a good enough job at showing what kind of incidents are in the area.
