Goodbye, Intellistar Switched to U-Verse

So today, I got home from school and found out that we switched to AT&T U-Verse. Almost instantly I grabbed my camera to see if we at least got an LDL bar...and found nothing. Just the basic satellite forecast on the 8s. Now, I've never been the biggest fan of the IntelliSTAR, but still, it sucks not having an actual LOCAL forecast. Not to mention I'm actually missing it, kind of.

I am glad U-Verse isn't in my area.
Anyways, how come you had to switch (sorry if I missed something).

Part of it was with Time Warner, the picture (and sometimes the audio too) would get all pixellated, or freeze, or both. We could never figure out why, and although it started happening less and less often after we upgraded to premium, it never fully went away. That's the only reason I know. At least I only have to put up with it for seven months (then I find out if the dorms in Oklahoma have cable).

Sadly it's the case where I live too. No one in my block has cable, you'll either see a Dish Network or DirecTV dish mounted on the roof or wall tops. Comcast hasn't been as popular as it used to be. Nowadays, you'll only find cable service in areas where satellte reception would be poor such as in areas with tall apartment buildings or many trees. U-Verse has the raw feed though of TWC. With Dish you get an LDL and with DirecTV you get an LDL and Personalized LF Application.

And to add onto Molly's post about DirecTV, the LDL is only on national programming, not the LF. It appears on both the LF and national programming for Dish.

Find Michelin tires at this dealer near you because so much is riding on your tires.

AT&T U-Verse isn't satellite service, it's fiber, like Verizon FiOS. U-Verse has the technology to implement STARs (just like FiOS has), but they choose not to.
